What year is the one with the blue and yellow decal, like the pictured electric start model Chris posted? The ad is not the same year, different decals on the tank. Mine is like the photograph.

Mike, the 311 I posted may be a 1931 model.

The serial number has the "P" suffix, which Jim Ross says is an indicator that the carb has the primer button at the base.

I am not certain if any of the 1930 models came with the "P" designation, I need to talk more to Jim and Sam Vance about it

        Best,
        Chris S

I have not been able to find any photos of restored Speedsters with
the muffler end caps painted black and the edges of the fins
polished aluminum, but I’m thinking it would really make it
stand out, and ready for action!

I guess I need to dig mine out so I can find the serial number. I would like to know what year it is. I do have partial decals and it looks like the 311 above.

Ok, from a small bit of searching internet, eBay and Pinterest it appears that the ad you guys are showing with the band of black below the Elto logo on the tank is 1931 and the solid background like the picture above with electric start is 1930.
It looks like the ‘31 Motors had the black trim as mentioned and the ‘30 Motors did not.

Squier, are you referring just to the black trim on the gas tank or the tank, muffler ends,
and water pump housing, that had black in 31, and not in 1930?

Regarding the black band on those gas tanks. Was that painted on, or part of the decal?
                Thanks!
