Are you saying there’s suppose to be a horizontal piece between the handle bolt
flanges?
Mine does look like it’s had some work done on it, including welding
on the bar swivel "stop".
Thanks.Prepare to be boarded!
May 29, 2018 at 12:39 pm #76971Yes, that’s what I’m trying to say. It crosses over below the carb.

room for the horizontal piece between the bolt holes, as it would
hit the carb. Maybe I can find a photo of it somewhere.

the bottom of the carb, that would hit that horizontal bar.
Perhaps that’s why my bar was cut off.
Bad storm right now, but next time in the garage I’ll look at
the carb and see if the box is an "add on".My carb also has a spring loaded plunger on the bottom right of the carb, facing it.
Can’t tell if yours has that. The parts diagram I have doesn’t show it, but
mentions it as a "Choke Plunger".Prepare to be boarded!

Your grab handle does have metal missing, basically that strut is supposed to run across the bottom from lug to lug has been removed.
Sorry if I caused any confusion.
best,
P T2May 30, 2018 at 2:19 pm #77036Maybe Rube added a baffle to the air intake and needed to remove the cross bar to fit it. The carb looks the same as mine otherwise.
Interesting motor, lots of little modifications going on.May 30, 2018 at 4:44 pm #77048It’s a shame to think someone defiled the Elto by cutting
off the cross strut just to add that little tin box on the intake.
Hood scoops looked rad on Super Bee’s, etc., back in the day,
but doesn’t do much for this Elto. 😕Is there suppose to be an intake screen on these carbs?

May 30, 2018 at 5:43 pm #77058Yes, there should be a screen over the opening on the bottom of the carb.
Be careful when tightening the fuel inlet fitting, those carbs are prone to splitting along the parting line that runs from the threaded port across the underside.

and T2 ain’t kidding about the fuel inlet fitting – I’ve wrecked one carb overtightening that fitting instead of going for more packing
