      The gearcase is in pieces now but the 0308617 – Pinion Gear (red circle) still seized on and I could not turn it or remove it. Beside I have other spare I don’t know how I got it in the basement (10-15 years) turning but the shaft got corroded. I think it belong to 15 hp. Could I used it to donor for 25 Hp?

        The area to check in the gearcase is/are the bushings cast in for the driveshaft/pinion areas.
        I think you refer to 383829 -Drive Shaft Bearing (#50) in the chart.

          OK, so you are saying that the driveshaft is seized into the lower bronze bushing on the gear housing, the driveshaft won’t turn?? You could try tapping the driveshaft downward a bit from the top to see if it will free up. Can you pull the pinion off the driveshaft?
          I’m betting that older gearcase assembly will bolt up to your newer engine….Compare the height of both driveshafts from the deck of the gear housing to the top of the splines. The newer unit is apart so you can’t measure the shift rod.
