My older motor is stamped like the picture,   this one I haven’t located a number.

It does have spark hoping to get it to fire up…

My older engine shaft is rusty and allows the water pump to leak into the gear case.

I dont know the cost  but you could check  blast welding technique on the drive shaft …or find a good one to replace yours.

blasting vaporizes  new metal onto the  wear  area which can  then be  resized  to spec.    cost  ??????

So now I have ran into another issue the throttle linkage has been messed with and I would like to find the replacement parts.   Still no sign of a serial number..

The linkage is very sloppy and someone has drilled holes in the shaft and arms…     The shaft that goes into the gear for the tiller is a circle with a flat spot.   The top is plastic and is supposed to be pinned on with a roll pin.    The shaft also has a nylon bushing with 2 tabs to hold in into the engine casting.

Well I think if it was me I would start with the serial number range for a 1972:  3266263-3482752.  Hit Marineengine.com and try and get part numbers for the things you need.

Then; armed with part numbers you can do a search on e-bay etc .  Lots of those sellers have pictures of  their parts so you can do a visual check against yours to see that they are correct.

If you haven’t already….run the engine first to whatever extent you can.  Check for decent running, shifting, cooling etc. before you start spending money.  Parts can add up fast.  Lots of folks just hold off until an affordable parts motor turns up.

1st I would like to Thank everyone for the help with this motor I got it to fire up today…

Still needs a carb cleaning and possible fuel pump kit…

Also the hose between the fuel connector and fuel pump is leaking…

Is there a way around this expensive braided hose ?
