I just did a little more investigating on the motor, and it looks like it’s actually a 9.8, but someone cut the 9.8 out of the decals and flipped the 9 over to make a 6, probably to get around power restrictions on some lake or to run it on a boat that wasn’t rated for that much power. So far I ordered an impeller kit that should be in soon, and I drained the lower unit. Seems to be in good shape, no water whatsoever. We’ll probably give it a coat of olive drab paint to match my brother’s jon boat before it hits the water
