      You’re not wrong. Anything over a 5.5 will ventilate and over-rev in a 55 gallon drum. Even the 5.5 will to some degree. It is a heck of a lot better than using a regular prop on anything though, especially 10hp and up. If you use a little common sense and don’t let the engine over-rev for very long, it does allow one to get close on the tuning in the drum before going to the lake to dial in though. They are worthwhile if you work on a lot of motors IMO.

        You are right – much too small. The minimum size specified by Evinrude was 450 gallons. . . 😀

          Am I reading that right that there is a second coil locating ring?

            The second locating ring is for magnetos with the coils on the outside. Easily substituted by putting a single layer of vinyl tape on the existing magnetic rotor. Because of limited access the "U" shaped rotor puller is really great for pulling the rotor without damaging any components, which can happen when using screwdrivers to ply it off. . . 😀
