I can’t speak for the quality of the cheap ones that are copies of the tiny tach, but with a tiny tach, you can order longer cable lengths. The standard comes with a 6-foot cable. Unless you are mounting it on your motor itself, or you have a rear steering boat, you will most likely want a longer cable. Tiny tach allows you to give them a custom length request. You certainly can’t do that with fake knock-off ones. So to me, it all comes down to being able to fit it to my boat, a front steer 14-footer. You have to have lots of length to run it alongside the motor and down alongside the wiring and whatnot and going through the side of the boat and up to the front and back to your dash or whatever you have. For my 14-foot boat I ordered a 16 foot cable.
