I use the long thin ones with the wire running thru it. not the flat ones with the 2 wires running out the bottom.

Dave, I think somebody steered me toward the long, skinny
ones once when I needed a .15 uf cap.
Any idea what the part number would be for that style
        in a .20 cap?
        Thanks.

I think the reverse polarity knob is to be used after testing a condenser for leakage. By reversing for a spit second with power switch off it keeps you from getting shocked when you disconnect the condenser. Not sure if that’s correct but that’s what I use it for.

Joe, I went back thru the manual and found out about the "Reverse Polarity"
knob. It was in a section for, and regarding, testing diodes.
Also, the manual states that when testing condensers for leakage, they’re
automatically discharged when you let go of the test switch.
This little manual is before they invented pictures, so I have to
            read it carefully, lol.

I like the points section of the ohm meter on the Stevens. When you do an ohm’s test of the points while closed, they must be in the small green window at the top of the scale. If not,the contacts aren’t clean, and need to be checked again. It also can do a ”breaker points conditioning” that runs a small amount of current through points to clean off skin oils, oxidation etc, after installation.
              Kinda some cool features..

After I "wrap up" a Lightwin I’m working on, I want to get back
to the HD-15 Johnson twin, with the single coil and grounding
brushes. It’s running real erratic, and I’ll be interested in
learning if the Stevens unit finds "arcing" or a bad coil.

Thanks for clearing that up for me I don’t have a manual for my tester.

Joe, The reverse polarity switch is talked about on this page
                    of the manual.

                      Thanks,
I will use this test on the mosorb diodes I am installing on my electronic modules to see how it tests compared to my digital multimeter.

If you have the manual in digital format could you post it here or pm it to me.

                      Thanks,

                      Joe

                        Hey guys –

I bought a Steven’s ST-75 from a fellow AOMCI member a couple of years ago and am just getting to use it now. The coil tests seem to work well but the all important condenser leakage test doesn’t move the meter. I hooked up a voltmeter and it barely registers voltage for the test. The only electronic repair shops I’ve found around here only do modern stuff. Is there any company or person anybody can recommend that works on this old equipment that I could send it to?

                        Thanks
