I think the early Cailles (maybe up to the Red Heads) used serial numbers in sequence for all their motors. So if you compare you Caille number to another Caille number of a known manufacture year you can get pretty close to the year of your Caille RBM.

Thanks for tip. Perhaps someone has enough "known year" of Caille’s
with serial numbers to help "slot" mine in for an approximate year.
I believe I read that the Caille’s didn’t have the water cooled exhaust
until 1917, but I’ll have to re-check that fact!

        Prepare to be boarded!

          Buc,

Geez, seems like your collection keeps growing by the week! So how many total do you have now? These 2 are great additions to the pile but you are probably going to have to do an addition onto your shop!

It’s hard to keep an accurate count of the outboards, lol.
Database shows 203 outboards, but about 50 of them were
“parts” motors, froze up when I got them in a purchase of
over 100 motors. Quite a few I’ve scavenged for parts to
make a “good” one, so they should probably not be “counted”
as outboards anymore. Gave away about 10 junk Johnsons
the last two years at Tomahawk to make more room, and
added a rack in a little garage for this years purchase at
Tomahawk. It’s a constant struggle, lol.

And the struggle is REAL! I feel you Tom! 😉
