    Correct, it is a 1954 Gale-built motor per the model #.
    1958 Hiawathas were made by Scott Atwater.

    Thank you outbdnut2 and Frankr! So it’s a 1954 Gale built motor and since it does not have rubber engine mounts, it should not have the problematic lower crankshaft seal.
    That’s a big relief to clear that up!

    FWIW I am presently running an RD18 without the exhaust baffle and a single gasket . seems to run fine. I have run two other Rd18s without the baffle and with single gasket also with no I’ll effects. I believe that RD 19 did not have the baffle nor did the Rd17 so looks like a one year only part,

    Olcah – thanks for that info. That confirms my thoughts to just use the single gasket.
