Cool! Just clean up what ever grease you applied to the point shoes and cam. Don’t want that potentially fouling up the points later on. The light oil on the wick is adequate enough.

Working on the carb now .
I got a rebuild kit . Where do the plastic looking seals go ?

And how do you get the metal plug out of the slow speed ? needle casing ?

you punch in a small 1/8 hole with a drill but you just punch in DO NOT GO FURTHER then you take a small nail or pick and pry it out…. very easy job

when done…. install the new plug what I do is take a squarehead (Robertson ) screwdriver #2 and punch the center (dome) of the plug with a light tap enough to mark it

then I apply clear fingernail polish to seal the joint

Got it back together .. Cleaned the tank and screen .. Really gunked up …
Used some 16-1 ratio fuel I had on hand . I assume 24-1 is correct for this motor ..
Only ran it a minute . I want to check/replace water pump/impeller .. Any tips on dropping the lower unit other than taking the bolts out and dropping ?

I also need to find a slow speed needle valve stem and knob .. The old one is broken off on the end ..And a new fuel shutoff valve ..

Ordering stuff for lower unit .
Item 23 is not present on my motor . I assume that seals the connection to the water tube and I should order it.
Also trying to get the upper screw out of the lower gear casing . Is it ok to use heat there to try and break loose ? The end of the exhaust is broken . Will this hurt anything to run it like that ?
