      I’m trying to identify what year this motor was made.
      Hopefully the earlier posted picture of the tank helps.
      It is a single cylinder.
      Stamped on the power head is: S53582
      Thanks for any ideas.

          The number you gave is the serial number. If it’s a single cylinder, water cooled motor,
          you probably have the 1940 model 571.40

              Disconnect the wie & use a meter to see what you get. Even if it is leaky it should function
