.
agree with the Johnson PO from 1950,
what about the Evinrude ?……probably the Speeditwin 6039 last year production also 1950 ?

May 21, 2017 at 3:44 pm #58106I believe Honda made an opposed twin up to about 1970? I’d like to find one….I don’t think they were imported to North America.
May 21, 2017 at 4:31 pm #58108The Speeditwin and Speedifour are in this 1950 catalog:

The first GB-30 and the later GB-40 are from the 60ties
and the models from the 70ties, B-75 and B-100
are no opposed twins
😉
or do I miss a model ? don’t think so at this moment.
.May 21, 2017 at 11:02 pm #58122Well 1950 was definitely a significant turning point in the mass production of the "old style" motors. I believe that that is the reason that the club designates 1950 as the last year for "antique" motors, picking up with 1951 as the first of the "classics".

May 21, 2017 at 11:46 pm #58124Good info guys,
I think the next demarcation should be the transition from metal hoods to fiberglass…but I do not think the club sees it that way. Classics going up to 1980s…seems we need an additional category? Just my two cents

May 22, 2017 at 1:05 am #58126Mas, the question of a third classification has comes up occasionally. It’s always interesting to hear peoples opinions about that subject. Perhaps one of these days there will be some consensus and something concrete will result. Now for some "opinion"… fiberglas hood, could be a good break point. When was the first? an Elgin if I recall correctly. How about introduction of (point less) electronic ignition, when did that happen?

.I gather it’s a B45 opposed twin according to the attachment. It’s after the GB models and before the parallel twins.
