The gas tank is in amazing condition. Not my motor. From my picture files. Not long ago I had the complete assembly in about the same condition as this one. I remember taking it apart for the grip. I don’t have a clear recollection of what I did next but I suspect I sold the grip. Its the same as was used on the A Johnson’s. Likely scraped the rest. I’ll look around today to be sure. Sorry.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

March 30, 2026 at 12:07 pm #312996Today I commenced the disassembly process. The flywheel came off after a fight. Now that I can see the innards I am sort of baffled, amazed, and worried. This thing has a complicated magneto, with separate circuit to provide some low voltage lighting, and what looks like access for a remote kill switch. I knew it had a light switch socket under the broken advance lever, but was not aware of the rest.

You can see the extra windings on the inside of the coil heels. Some sort of extra condenser thingy too!
Underside showing light bulb socket. Here you can see the sockets for the remote ignition wiring and lights and the under mag light bulb socket!

Are you sure it’s not for charging the early cell phones on the go? lol.
The only motor I had / have with a lighting circuit is a Wizard, but
it must be almost 30 years newer. Are both condenser thingies attached to the ignition coil?
I hope it’s all in good enough shape to bring back to life.
When you figure out what kind of light plugged into that lighting
circuit, please let us know!Prepare to be boarded!
March 30, 2026 at 5:29 pm #313042Just noticed the “Jacks”? on each side of the big lighting socket.
Is that to hook up to a battery for easier starting, or what???Prepare to be boarded!
