You’re off to a good start!
On that “input / output” thingy, would there be some kind
of cord with a jack that plugs into the hole?Prepare to be boarded!

I’ve seen a pic of the light that plugs in. It is like a flashlight with a cord on it with a male plug on the end. I assume a similar wired plug would attach to a dry cell for the battery side.
Tom Manley has one. Maybe he will post a pic on here.

I actually just saw one with the flashlight attached, and the small lamp on Saturday.
Lincoln has one in the museum that works.
He has a video on the PTBC YouTube page too.

April 13, 2026 at 1:09 pm #315306So the secondary windings are bad in both my Evinrude coils. Disappointed, but not surprised. On to plan B with the military coil option.
Not my best work, but as Tubs says, it is “Good enough for who it’s for”!

April 13, 2026 at 4:47 pm #315329It’s a pain to get those laminated out of the Military coils, but
they save the day.
Does the lighting coil test okay?Prepare to be boarded!

Nice job on the retro. Looks factory. Did you use the single or two lead coil?
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I had a 2 lead coil in my pile already. They are cheaper than the single last time I bought any.

Chuck,
I didn’t take any pictures of this process. Basically what I did is cut the laminates off close to the coil with a hack saw. Then drill down through the laminate as far as you dare. I used my trusty Walker-Turner drill press. Then get a long punch that fits the hole and drive the center laminates out. Sometimes they come easy, sometimes not! Then just work at the remaining laminates to get them out.
