If you haven’t gotten a tiller yet assembly I know where one is available. No P M anymore so email me at old.days@yahoo.com and I hook you up.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

April 6, 2026 at 6:39 pm #314369I got a pair of rings from a member at our Pine Tree Boating meeting on Saturday! Thanks Tom! Did some cleaning and polishing on the bronze/brass items and the tank. I took the reverse linkage all apart and cleaned the swivel tube and repacked it with string covered in grease.

Ok, it needs a shear pin, I can handle that. But when I got into the lower unit, I found that the propshaft had not even been drilled for a shear pin. It looked like a replacement propshaft that wasn’t quite finished. well, I figgered I could finish it, there’s only one little hole to drill, right? Well shit. I don’t know what it was made of, but when I tried to drill a shear pin hole through that shaft, none of the drills I had could cut it. I gave up and made one of my own propshafts out of 303 stainless and machined it just fine. Had to laff tho. I still have that propshaft, I use it for a drift because apparently I can’t hit it hard enough to damage it.

April 7, 2026 at 2:33 pm #314480Today begins the dreaded magneto part of this project. You can see the differences between the “standard” and the “deluxe” versions of the magneto. Some extra goodies involved with the lighting coils. Fun!

I bet you can guess which is which.Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to clean the components?

April 7, 2026 at 2:39 pm #314483Now I could take the easy way out and just swap in the “standard” magneto after replacing the plug wires and condenser, but what would be the fun in that?
I’m going to attempt to bring the “deluxe” goodies over to the unbroken plate. Lots of extra wires and connections involved, but I have the time and maybe the patience.
I had to drill and tap several extra holes in the unbroken plate to accept all the cool stuff.
The input/output switch thingy’s are pretty interesting.

This is the “battery” input The “Light” side has 4 wires involved.David Bartlett
