Thank you! I saw that picture in the service manual, but I also saw enough other pictures that I ended up confused.

I’ll try to attach another photo, and see if I end up with someone else’s photo instead. This is supposed to be a screenshot from a video in which the water pump has just been removed. Unless I’m getting my wires crossed, the impeller looks like it’s been turning clockwise, but that’s when viewed from below. So if you viewed it from above, wouldn’t it be turning counterclockwise?

You are experiencing a known issue with this forum and the pictures.

It shouldn’t be necessary but I would suggest that you try re-naming your photos in a different syntax from the IMG_6183.jpg that your phone or camera is producing.

What is happening is that someone already posted a photo in the past with the same file name as yours.  The site’s software should be able to separate them but sometimes it doesn’t happen.

Try making a new filename that is unique to you.  Or just a random mix of numbers and letters and try that.

Sorry for the hassle.  I know it’s annoying.  I edited the other post and corrected the mix-up manualy.  I could see the one pic you uploaded but not the other.

the impeller always turns clockwise looking down on it because the drive shaft turns clockwise

That is so good to know. Thank you! I will rename all my photos in future.

Got it. Thank you for that clarification!

OK, well first, something about that SS impeller plate does not look right to me.  There are two types of OEM water pumps for this engine.  One has a plastic housing and a smaller impeller.  The older style uses an aluminum housing and a larger impeller.  None of the part are interchangable, including the SS impeller plate.

Looking down onto that impeller, it spins clockwise.  Is that a used impeller, the blades look like they have taken a set.  If so, that impeller is on upside down, the blades are facing in the wrong direction.  The picture in Jaques’ diagram has the impeller blades facting in the correction orientation…

Again, post pictures of the impeller housing, something is wrong with that SS plate.

Didn’t see seakay’s picture, that is the correct orientation of the impeller blades

The image may have flipped when the video was made or when it was re-posted here.

                    Fliped

OK, now even I am confused….  What the heck picture of Seakay’s was I looking that was right….  But again, let’s start with that impeller plate that appears to be the wrong one…  Anyone else seeing this???

The big picture from the manual is correct, for now I guess…

For your motor that runs clockwise, the photo on the right side of Tubs’ post and the image Jaques posted from the manual both show the impeller facing the correct way.
